1/16/09:  I'm learning how to oil paint (again.)  The first time was in college, many moons ago.  I used color pencils for years...  (under my maiden name, Diane Cooper.)  Then I discovered the Daily Painter's Movement and I became inspired to try oils (again.)    I've never looked back.
Painting flowers in particular seems to free my creative spirit.  Floral still lifes present a simple framework from which any number of outcomes can be achieved.  I'm an HGTV addict and a fan of the latest trends in design and fashion.  I thrive on clever color combinations and interesting negative spaces.   Nothing thrills me more than an intuitive composition that satisfies both  traditional standards and serves as salve for my inner design junkie.    ...and if my painting looks good with your sofa, I won't be offended.  (:

I paint every day.  Visit my blog to see what I painted today.

Sunflowers in Pottery Jug 6"x6" Oil on Canvas Panel $95  Available in my Ebay Store.

Of note:  Up until October 2007, I worked by my maiden name: Diane Cooper   Art signed Diane Cooper is most likely a combination of watercolor and color pencil on paper.  To see samples of my color pencil art go to my art archives.
