Starry Night Nancy Oil on panel, 8" x 8," $450. |
Greetings! Fall has arrived in Ohio... This morning, actual snow on the ground, ugh! Don't think it'll stay long, but still.
The cooler weather goads me into what one might call "nesting behavior..." Never mind "spring cleaning," you'll find me "fall rearranging and redecorating." My latest project has been shelf displays. I don't know how you decorate but I am kinda meticulous (persnickety? whatever, lol.) Gathering the stuffs for said shelves, arranging, perfecting and then lighting are all steps in the process. My various collections: foo dogs, cat figurines, small art, framed personal pictures, books and glass bottles must be pared down for good groupings on said shelves. I don't do it with a light heart. It is great fun that also feels like work. Once the shelves are arranged though? And the objects are balanced and complimentary? And well lit? I very much relish having personalized and beautified my home for the cold months ahead.
In other news, I thought my new fall paintings were exciting. But you, valued subscriber may be delighted to know that special for you and for a limited time only, selected paintings are 50% off! Enjoy!
Wishing you cozy vibes and lots of delicious apple fritters until next time! |
Artfully yours, Diane Hoeptner Artist Kirtland, OH

In-home kitteh model is making waves! CC strikes a pose in "Forty Winks." The painting placed third in the August BoldBrush Art Contest & Exhibit. Sincere thanks to judge Heather Arenas for the honor. This competition attracts 2500 to 3000 entries per contest/per month! I've entered paintings dozens of times over the years. Sometimes a painting will score in the "top 15%" which is always nice... but placing 3rd is better, understatement.

Husband and I attended the CFA Cat Show last month... I took over 800 pics, a record! I am not a great photographer by any means. But having taken that many, hopefully some will make good enough reference material for paintings. Actually one already did: "Starry Night Nancy" (lead image, above) was inspired by a cat from the show. More pics from the show below for your extreme amusement. |

Getting a painting juried into the Tikkanen Painting Prize show at the Ashtabula Art Center was a highlight of my career. October 4th, my Husband and Mom attended the reception with me. The cash prize awards were nothing short of phenomenal! There was live music, wine and eats. If that wasn't enough, the show included catalogues showcasing all the paintings, awards and artist descriptions of their own work. Just a delight... It was an honor to be included!

Places to Be Oil on panel, 10" x 8," $560. |
If you need a little 1) Mischief 2) Humor 3) Jumping black cat 4) All of the Above Consider "Places to Be" (short for Places to Be, Things to See!) This is one of my favorites from the new paintings. Whenever I can mix different visual elements (from different sources) and suggest a narrative as well? I consider it a win.
This painting will fit a standard size 8x10 frame of your choice. Should you choose not to frame it, all paintings include a little hang tag stickie for the back. Paintings ship via Priority Mail and shipping within the continental USA is free. Here's a link to Places to Be.
